The folks over at "i09", an excellent sci-fi aggregate website have an article gleaned from a recent paper showing graphically the rise of Neuroscience as a topic of research over the course of a decade (read it here). By analyzing over 35 million citations in approximately 7000 scientific articles over the course of the decade, the research team of Martin Rosvall and Carl T. Bergstrom show that not only has neuroscience grown from an interdisciplinary topic to a field of study on par with biology, economics, and psychology, but that their research technique can in fact map changes in large networks.
